Director of Studies

The Director of studies is a senior role at an ATC International centre. You are directly responsible to the Centre Manager, but also have direct access to the Director and Head office.

Hours are as required with a minimum of 42 per week.

This list is by no means exhaustive, but intended to provide you with a summary of your main duties, which will include:

  • Organising the placement and testing of students
  • Organising the classes and levels
  • Timetabling
  • Teacher induction and student/group leader induction
  • Organising and holding Teacher meetings
  • Administering resources and ensuring access to these for teaching staff (operating sign out system)
  • Administration of Trinity exams 
  • Record keeping and filing 
  • Collating all reports and certificates and the quality control of these
  • Observing and supporting Teachers 
  • Linking the educational course to the activity programme espcially the social programme
  • Providing cover for classes and teaching if numbers are low
  • Assisting the Centre Manager and substituting in absense 

Pastoral Duties

For this role we offer good quality accommodation and full meal packages, free of charge in return for support with the pastoral care of the students. Each residential member of staff is timetabled for this and these responsibilites vary but usually include the following:

  • Helping ensure students are in their accommodation at night
  • Occaisional patrol of the campus
  • Being available for any emergency

As a member of the management team you have a responsibility for the overall pastoral care of the students with us.

Good renumeration packages are of offer for the right candidates and experience and qualifications are taken into consideration. Salaries range from £400 - £500 pw

Teacher

Teachers work a weeek with 30 contact hours consisting of morning and afternoon lessons. This is usually through the working week, Monday to Friday, and it is rare for a teacher to be asked to work a weekend. If this is the case they would still recieve two days off.

If the centre operates morning only teaching then Teachers would be required to work on the social programme to make up their hours. Please  see Activity leader jobs for a full description of the types of things required.

Teachers might be given the option to work weekend excursions for additional payment should they be interested.

Teachers need to be flexible enough to work both type of programmes highlighted above.

Teachers are expected to do the following: 

  • Plan and deliver lessons pitched to the level of the groups they have
  • Follow the syllabus guidelines even if they wish to use material and ideas of their own.
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Assit with testing and placement
  • set short homework tasks that are checked
  • Help students with projects
  • Use some of the specific materials available especially for integration with the social programme
  • Be punctual and well-prepared
  • Be presentable
  • Be open to discussions with group leaders about the progress of their students
  • Be co-operative with other members of staff to ensure the whole programme is a success
  • Write a brief report for their students and execute progress tests.

Pastoral Duties

For residential Teachers we offer good quality accommodation and full meal packages, free of charge in return for support with the pastoral care of the students. Each residential member of staff is timetabled for this and these responsibilites vary but usually include the following:

  • Occaisional patrol of the campus
  • Being available for any emergency

ATC International offer the support a Director of Studies and management team that are focussed on the quality of the experience for staff as well as clients.

Competitive salaries are offered and experience taken into consideration. Teachers are paid between £320 and £380 pw

Social Activity Leader

Hours are 42 per week across 6 days with at least one day off per weeek.

This is a great opportunity for people who want to have fun while earning across the summer. You will report directly to your line manager, either the Activity Manager/Senior Activity Leader or to the Centre Manager.

As an Activity Leader for ATC International you will have a number of responsibilities primarily related to the planning and execution of the activities programme for our students and their leaders. These can include the following and this list is by no means comprehensive.

  • Plan, prepare for and lead excursions to places of cultural interest (Castles, historic towns, stately homes etc)
  • Plan and execute the day programme that can include sports and arts/ crafts or Drama.
  • Organise essential kit/bookings/materials
  • Supervise and participate in the activities
  • Be responsible for funds and other resources or methods of payment
  • Organise and participate in evening activities such as discos/quiz nights/karaokes/games nights/ talent shows/ etc 

Full induction is given prior to commencing employment.

For residential Activity Leaders we offer good quality accommodation and full meal packages, free of charge in return for support with the pastoral care of the students. Each residential member of staff is timetabled for this and these responsibilites vary but usually include the following:

  • Helping ensure students are in their accommodation at night

  • Being available for any emergency

ATC International offer the support of a management team that are focussed on the quality of the experience for staff as well as clients.

Competitive salaries £250 -£270 per week are offered and experience taken into consideration.
